Privacy & Telemetry
What PgCraft collects, why, and how to opt out.

Who we are
GrepForge Solutions Inc. (“GrepForge”, “we”, “us”) is the operator of pgcraft.app and the developer of the PgCraft desktop application. GrepForge is the data controller for the limited personal data described in this policy.
For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights described below, contact us at support@grepforge.com. More about the company at grepforge.com.
This policy covers two things: the product telemetry that the PgCraft desktop application may send, and the website analytics for pgcraft.app.
Product telemetry
PgCraft can send product telemetry so we can understand which features are used, which platforms to support, and where the application fails. Telemetry is opt-out: you can turn it off at any time (see Opting out), and it is limited to exactly the data listed below.
What telemetry collects
- A stable, randomly generated install identifier — a random value created on your device that is not derived from your hardware, account, or network, and that identifies an installation, not a person.
- The application version.
- Your operating system, CPU architecture, and desktop environment.
- Feature-usage events — that a feature was used (for example, that a query was run or the schema browser was opened), as counts and event names.
- Error and crash signals — that an error occurred, with a category and diagnostic metadata.
- Session and uptime information — that the application was started and how long a session lasted.
What telemetry never collects
PgCraft is a database tool, so we are deliberate about what it must never send. Telemetry never includes, and our servers reject if present:
- Connection strings, hostnames, ports, or any database endpoint used as an identity.
- Credentials of any kind — passwords, keys, tokens, or certificates.
- Query text — the SQL you write is never transmitted.
- Schema, table, column, or row data — none of your database contents leave your machine.
How we use telemetry
We use telemetry only to develop and improve PgCraft — to prioritise features, decide which platforms to support, and fix crashes. We do not sell telemetry, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for their own purposes. Aggregated, non-identifying figures (for example, “how many installs are on the current version”) may inform our public communications.
Retention
Raw telemetry events are retained for no longer than 24 months, after which they are deleted or irreversibly aggregated. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics may be kept indefinitely.
Opting out
Telemetry is opt-out. You can disable it at any time in the PgCraft application’s Privacy settings; once disabled, the application stops sending telemetry. The exact status of telemetry for a given release is stated in the application and its release notes. Disabling telemetry does not affect your ability to use any feature of PgCraft.
Website analytics
pgcraft.app uses privacy-respecting, first-party analytics to understand how the site is found and used. This analytics is cookieless and sets no cross-site tracking cookies. We record only:
- the page visited and the referring site or campaign parameters (UTM);
- a coarse country, derived from your IP address at request time and not stored as a full IP address.
We do not build advertising profiles and do not share this data with third parties for their own purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the EU/UK GDPR — you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because product telemetry is tied only to a random install identifier and website analytics stores no directly identifying data, we may be unable to locate data about a specific individual; where we can, we will act on a verified request.
To make a request, or to lodge a concern, contact support@grepforge.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as PgCraft evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date, and, where the change is significant, noted in the application or its release notes.
